Teya is desperate. Caught by the King and held for her magical singing abilities, she is ready to do anything to escape, or die trying. When her own plans fail, an ambassador from another country unexpectedly offers her a chance at freedom. All she must do is take him to her homeland. It sounds too good to be true, and she realizes she might only be exchanging one prison for another. When she challenges the ambassador, Bran, to remove her kundar, the hated collar that keeps her magic in check, he hesitates. She is a beautiful, exotic creature, but from the rumors he's heard, the collar is the only thing that will keep her from turning on him, and he needs her help to find the elixir sym, that threatens to destroy his country. A precarious alliance forms between them, and their journey begins. But it quickly becomes filled with treachery and deceit. Teya must learn who she really is, for if she fails, her people and the magic they weld are lost forever. Now, as she nears the completion of her journey, she realizes the path she is destined to take will also tear her from the man she loves. Can she give up everything she is for him?

A wonderful, imaginative book! What on earth was the publisher thinking though!? I felt like the slowest reader while going through this book because the print was so ridiculously cramped and small. Also, I may not have picked up this book just because of the cover art. Thankfully I didn't judge a book by its cover but that picture on the front is just horrible. I never took it with me in public and whenever I left it around the house, placed it with the cover facing down because I was so

This is a great story by a new author that captures a girl who is enslaved for her voice. It is a science fiction novel. I enjoyed the plot but thought the ending was a bit too far fetched.

Enjoyable StoryI really enjoy the Shelby series by this author and was looking forward to reading this. I haven't read this type of book in a long time and wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed the two main characters though I found Teya to be a bit naive. But, this was to be expected after her captivity. There were many unexpected turns in the story that kept me guessing and I was happy with the length of the story and the ending. Overall, an enjoyable read and is recommend it to anyone.

No WordsI couldnt find the words for a headline. I am not a reader of fantasy, but I read this because it was by Colleen Helme, Shelby Nichols creator. Beautifully written, it really is a true fairy tale for grownups.

I liked the book. Didn't love it, but liked it. I think I might have had too high of expectations after reading a review in the sunday paper. This is a "print on demand book" so I had to order it and wait for it to arrive. I got frustrated when I was reading it because I wanted Teya to be a stronger heroine, less easy to intimidate and manipulate. I realize that the writer was holding out for the big climax, but I got a little annoyed along the way. There are a few inconsistencies with the

great story idea, terrible writing. No plot development, no character growth, very disappointing.

If you are expecting a fantasy romance with a happily ever after ending, this Songbird will make you work for it.
