When Kallie Bennett, a jaded teenage girl plagued by her alcoholic mother and her peers molded out of sheer bubble gum perfection, chases after Alice in Wonderland herself, she ends up lost in her own version of Wonderland, which forces her to face her utmost fears and introduces her to familiar characters with a dark twist. Among these characters is Ches, a gorgeous vampire with a conflicted conscience, who becomes Kallie’s guide and blossoming love interest. She also crosses paths with Queen Hartley, a manipulative witch who has the power to strip away one’s memories and imagination, which brings a bone chilling new meaning to “off with their heads.” In The Search for Alice, Kallie starts to realize that her Wonderland is just as frightening as her own reality and that she cannot always run away from her problems. She must figure out a way to defeat Queen Hartley and return home before it is too late, but she soon learns that escaping Wonderland means leaving Ches behind forever.

Notice Based On Books The Search for Alice (Dreaming of Wonderland #1)
I am a fan of darker twists on our favorite fairy tales and this did not disappoint! The story grabbed me right away, entertaining and definitely not predictable. Kallie, choosing not to be a victim of her circumstances, goes on a journey leading to growth and important realizations about who she is and what she is capable of. Looking forward to the next story!

I received this book through Goodreads Firstread Giveaways. This book was a great retelling of Alice in Wonderland with a darker tone to Wonderland

I won this book from the giveaways at Goodreads.com in exchange for an honest review.I never thought of myself as a character reader, but I suppose I am. There wasn't much character building in this book and for that reason I didn't really feel attached to any of them and in turn didn't really care what happened to them. The story was kind of all over the place between Wonderland and the MC complaining about her life and the people in it. It was just an okay read for me, I wasn't really pulled

5 Amazing StarsI loved The Search for Alice. Its an adaptation of a classic and boy, does it deliver. The story has dark and mysterious undertones running throughout, which kept me to the edge of my seat. I couldnt wait to see what would happen next. So much suspense!Ches and Kallies romance was beautiful. It felt believable and sincere and it was so amazing to see them get closer and overcome the boundaries between them. They seemed so perfect together. Ches wrestled with his feelings of hunger

* I read this book as part of a Buddy read with Ian Waters. Firstly, I think I should say I am not one for fairytales. I havent even read the original Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. It is on my list to be read, however, and I probably should have started with that but I read what takes my fancy so hey ho. I loved the animation as a kid so know the general gist of things. I struggled at first with this book. No idea why. Maybe Im just a little old for fairytales? Got a too sensible head on

Ive never really been a fan of fairy tales but I was interested by this as it sounded intriguing and I was inquisitive about the darker take on a classic tale. I found it a little slow to start for me but it soon picked up pace and interest quickly. I found the references to the classic tale very clever and fun. I especially liked the character of Queen Hartley. She was very dark and it really added to the story. The main characters of Kallie and Ches were good also. I thought the writing style

"The Search for Alice" is a modern and unique twist on Alice In Wonderland. It has it's own story and own and reimagined characters. Speaking of characters and twists, When I read about what it was about, Ches caught my attention. What is a vampire doing in Kallie's Wonderland? I have always had a weak spot for vampires, werewolves etc so I was excited for this aspect. The plot also did sound pretty intriguing as I love fairy tales, Mixing a classic fairy tale and vampires and a jaded character?
