Narrative Concering Books Limes inferior

Very interesting to say the least. i have read a lot of soviet SF in the past and there are some similarities in this to those, but not many. Mainly it struck me that this novel couldn't have been written in the West, it had to come from someone inside soviet/communist bloc. But what set it apart from other Soviet literature was that the characters had more "life" to them, they weren't all as beat down as the system they were living within. I kind of think this book wouldn't have seen the light of day if the author had been living in the Soviet Union, just too many things that would be uncomfortable and embarrassing to let loose. Not only did the book deal with the lack of freedom, the downfalls of communism (indirectly - not stated as such), and its effects on people, but it also looked behind the curtain and you saw the kind of corruption that exists at all levels. Really something else. And the Alice in Wonderland reference was good - similar to but better played than the Matrix (years later). EDIT: In case I was not clear - The author is POLISH. The book is written in Polish. It is not from the Soviet Union, I brought that up for comparison purposes. Soviet SF is not like Western (or specifically US) at that time, but many might then assume it is similar to Soviet SF. It is like neither but if one likes Soviet SF (Strugatsky, etc.) then it is also probably going to suit your tastes as well. It certainly did mine. I think Limes Inferior is a masterpiece.

RECENZJA: https://okonwsieci.pl/limesinferior/Przez lata opanowaliśmy sztukę kłamstwa i manipulacji niemal do perfekcji.

Škoda, že autor nevymyslel o něco lepší a méně "sci-fi" závěr. Potom bych uvažoval i o plném počtu hvězdiček.

Almost crime noir in its settings at first, it switches in the second part to a discussion of controlled society and perceived powerlessness of people to deal with slowly coming doom. The most disturbing part is that our Western civilization, as we call it, shows multiple similarities of generation after generation becoming pure consumers and loosing the ability to question or create. 'They' want us to be stupid ;)
